Thrift Store Haul + 3 Office Appropriate Looks

Approximately one thousand years ago my friend Cheryl introduced me to the thrift store.

I was no stranger to it but I all I did was drop off donations and never dared to venture inside.

Little did I know I was missing out on all of the fun.

The majority of my closet is thrifted because the deals are hard to pass up!

3 reasons why I love the thrift store

  1. it is affordable (we could stop here)

  2. it is great for the planet

  3. it is easier to purge clothes when I didn’t invest a lot in them

Sometimes I’ll stop into a thrift store just to see what I can find and other times I go in with a list of items I would “like” to find. Currently on my list are basic tops, shorts, and sweatshirts.

I do believe that anyone (yes anyone) can walk out with an outfit or two if you have some patience and some time. When I don’t want to look at everything on the rack, then I like to scan them for quality.

This is my biggest tip when it comes to thrifting.

Walk down the aisle and scan the rack rather slowly. You don’t have to touch every piece, just look at them. You will notice the pieces that are quality and the pieces that are cheaper.

If I notice a piece that seems well made and I like the color, then I will check the tag for size reference.

My tried and true brands are:

  • J.Crew

  • Talbots

  • Banana Republic

  • Ann Taylor + LOFT

  • The Limited

  • Gap + Old Navy (I find that Old Navy holds up pretty well!)

That makes up about 90% of my closet. :P

My other tip is make sure you check the items really well before purchasing. I look for holes or stains (OxiClean will get out most stains FYI!), and I always check the seams and zippers.

Check out my video to see how I styled three different outfits to wear to the office (or church) plus a BONUS LOOK for date night.

Most of those outfits ring in around $10…..for the entire thing. :D

Let me know which outfit is your favorite!
