Have you ever read the Bible cover-to-cover?

I was drawn to the notion but the follow through always eluded me!

I would struggle through the translation or I would get bored with all the names and places that I couldn’t identify with.

I tried skipping around but somehow the passages and messages just didn’t flow together.

Until one day while setting up an estate sale. As I was organizing the books, I picked up a Bible that promised to get you through the text in one year.

I was intrigued.

As I flipped through the pages, I noticed a difference in language. This was a translation (New Living Translation) I wasn’t familiar with but one that I could actually read and understand!

It offered daily devotional ideas along with insight into what might have been going on when the writer penned the book or chapter.

It made the notion of reading the Bible cover-to-cover feel in reach. So I bought it and decided to give it a go.

While it took me more than a year to get through it because I kept putting it down and picking it up weeks and sometimes months later, I did get through it. What an accomplishment that was!

The stories all made sense after I read it to completion. Their was context now associated with popular verses and passages.

I’m now on my third time through the good book. My goal is to have His word live in my heart and memory but to do that I need to be in often (if not daily)!

BIBLE HIGHLIGHTERS

I use these highlighters when reading. They don’t bleed through and are perfect for the thinner pages.

SERMON NOTES

I recently started using a notebook to track my notes from weekly sermons. The color, quality, and design caught my eye, and I love that I can store this on a bookshelf for future reference.

BIBLE TABS

I’m considering these bible tabs so I can easily find books rather than flipping back and forth from the table of contents. My sister-in-law has them and they look so polished on her Bible.

LAP COVERS

I’ve been using a large scarf as a lap shawl while we are in church; I’ve checked online for other options but keep coming back to a simple scarf. It works nicely folded up!

What is your favorite book in the Bible?

I have so many! My answer is always “The New Testament” ;)
