Are You A Nagger?

I've never liked being told what to do. Specifically the nagging type of told-ness. 

And I don't believe that I am alone in this. I'm sure you hated being nagged by parents to get up on time, to get a job, to get good grades, what-have-you. 

We all rebel against it at some point in time or another. 

So we can conclude that nagging doesn't work. 

Why then, is this is a common parental practice?
